In this painting, Eric Ruelland plays with the opposition between large, geometrical central black structure and white background. The black structure is not a homogeneous black; on the contrary, large white strokes are on the black structure; the white strokes are not either pure white, but touches of yellow, brown olive green are present; similarly, the black structure is not entirely black, but brown touches are on it. A big blue line gives movement to the painting. Concerning the white background, it is not either homogeneous. Pink, yellow, green touches create a vibrating structure. This painting is part of the “Tan” series. “Tan” means “Fire” in the Breton language. It is not a figurative representation of a fire, but of some feelings associated with fire. But this is an abstract painting, and what is important is what you feel watching it. How would you name this painting? Format F15. Painted 2019.
