Taxi, De Niro (reduction) Print

A stylized rendering of how the taxi driver viewed himself and our view of the red (evil) force trying to surround him. There are still some white areas, indicating there is still hope for good in him. Now for how he views himself. The campaign button is gone as well as the gold frames around his glasses. Even the badge on his chest isn’t gold anymore. That’s because he sees himself as a master spy, able to blend in without being noticed. His face and jacket contain various shades of green, but the canvas is almost visible. Here the green represents jealousy of the power he lacks and the fading away of his mind and body. Painting was updated in August 2019 to add yellow above the portrait and an X on one sun glass lens and a small O on the other lens. In December of 2019 this was turned into my third reduction painting. My reduction paintings are first completed as a traditional painting. Over time I “reduce” any unnecessary parts of the painting. The areas covered in blocks of paint serve to spark the interest and imagination of the viewer or convey feelings. Will arrive signed, dated, wire hangar attached along with a letter of authenticity.
