Taxus Baccata, also known as red yew is a gorgeous lush species of evergreen tree widespread in Europe and at the same time is endangered and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. The red yew is a long-lived, hardy, interesting conifer, especially the unique combination of soft, flat needles and red "berries" (arils), which distinguishes the red yew from most conifers, which usually produce cones. Most parts of the red yew are poisonous, a significant difference from many other conifers, whose cones or seeds can often be safely consumed by wildlife or even humans.
