These atmospheric works are intended to be moody and seductive, emphasizing the presence of the missing as an alluring place for personal reflection and insight. The work is rendered with both deep color saturation and restraint. Among my artistic influences are Georgia O'Keeffe, Rothko, Warhol and Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Yet my art is as much influenced by architecture, design and fashion as it is by more traditional painterly motivators. Masters such as Charles and Ray Eames, John Lautner, and film set designer Ken Adam have all shaped me. I am interested in the dualities of experience and the dynamics of uncertainty, including finding happiness through sadness, warmth when it is cold, and light amid darkness. Such juxtapositions create an emotional narrative of lingering ambiguity throughout all of my work.
