ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Testa di moro Original watercolor painting "Sicilian head" 20x14 inches 50x36cm ??? One of the most important symbols of Sicily - Sicilian head has an incredibly breathtaking legend⬇️ ?The story tells that over a thousand years ago, in the Arab region of Palermo, now known as Kalsa, there lived a beautiful girl who loved to look after flowers on her balcony. Once, when the girl, as usual, looked after her flowers, she was noticed by a young Moor who passed by and fell in love with her at first sight. The girl also fall in love with this handsome men not knowing that he was actually married and soon he would leave Palermo to return home. When she found out the truths young Sicilian girl in anger cut off his head so that he would stay with her forever and then put it on her balcony as a decorative vase. Day after day, the girl filled the vase with tears, desperately mourning the end of her love for the Moor, until the miraculous basil plant has grown. The neighbors, struck by its heady scent, wanted to recreate the handsome man's features on their terracotta vases at any cost. Since then, vases in the shape of a Moor's head have spread throughout Sicily, as a symbol of bitter but eternal love. People walking down her balcony started looking at her flourishing plant of basil and became jealous of how bloomed her plants were, so they began to forge colourful clay heads pots wishing to have the same magic green thumb.

Welcome to my Saatchi Collection. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Commissions are welcome. If you need a special painting of your favorite landscapes or flowers just contact me! Based in Sicily Italy I was fond of drawing since my childhood. Actually, I'm not entirely self-taught, I have 4 classes of art school, but at school I had no desire to draw. The teachers taught only academic painting and didn't allow any creativity. That's how I tripped my inspiration for 5 years. I didn't start going to art school again. One day, just for fun, I put my work for sale in my mom's store, and the painting was immediately bought! This moment inspired me to paint again, because I saw that people really enjoy my work. I didn't go to art school again. I began to study by myself. The main thing that motivates me is when I see that the bright colors of my work makes people smile and plunge into this positive atmosphere. The main motivating thing for me is understanding that bright colors of my work makes people smile and plunge into this positive atmosphere. My works are painted with watercolors. I really love this particular style because the watercolor makes the paintings light. And you have no room for mistake. The watercolor cannot be overlapped. Everything should work out the first time. So thank you for your time. Enjoy my work!
