ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"That's What This Storm Is About" is from the perspective of a person that is going through a trying period filled with calamity. Through this piece, Li Rou hopes the viewer finds his/her/their own personal space of tranquillity. Li Rou is an empath and finds inspiration through the experiences and emotions the world shares with her. She discovered that an excessively logical approach to emotions discounts its origins and negates its purpose. She finds it maddening as she sees emotions as a beautiful gift from within. It allows for a person to enter into the eccentric part of our own experience and get to know us. We want to be understood for being who we are, and emotion plays a huge role in that. Li Rou’s paintings are a way to share these emotions through acrylic, oil, motifs, mediums and text.

Li-Rou Jane is an abstract artist that draws inspiration through her sharp observations from human emotions and behaviour. Jane has resided in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manchester, London and Tokyo. She currently resides in Los Angeles. She is of Chinese ethnicity and incorporates the different cultures that she experiences into her art. She expresses herself best through abstract expressionism. Besides painting, she is a lawyer and an aspiring floral designer.
