That summer should never have ended No.1 is one of four individual works bound together by a singular memory; childhood summer vacations. These works acknowledge seemingly endless hot days on a beach, swimming in rockpools, playing in family gardens and adventures with childhood friends in an idyllic, uncomplicated Australian landscape. Here again, I draw on the elements of nature (earth, water, fire, air and space) in this new suite of work. Reimagined environments are transformed into abstracted reality by a distinctive use of color, texture and mark making - the application of media becomes a medium in itself. These summer landscapes are not intended to be about scenery or specific locations - they are about the sense of place and an interpretation of a moment in time.
