About The Artwork

The painting was created at the end of winter, when old things disappear, nature awakens, and new life begins. The abstract style best helped reflect the artist's emotional state, when old feelings are displaced by new ones. The painting "Thaw" depicts a frozen landscape in the process of melting, with water seeping through the ice and snow. The frozen landscape represents a state of stasis or stagnation, while the melting ice and snow symbolize the inevitability of change and the impermanence of all things. This theme is often explored in Eastern philosophies, which emphasize the impermanence of all phenomena and the need to accept change as an integral part of life. The painting was created using oil paint and a brush on cardboard, measuring 30 x 40 cm."

My name is Mariia Tsomyk. I was Born on October 8, 1993 in the provincial town of Polonne, Khmelnytska State. I am the citizen of Ukraine. My love for art comes from childhood. In 2012, I entered Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. There I discovered the world of painting and fell in love with it with all my heart. Thanks to my teachers Honored Artist of Ukraine Kryukova Hanna Oleksiivna, I feel the freedom of color and texture. Also love abstraction and impressionism. For me, these styles are about freedom of expression. The children's plan to "become an artist" came true. I paint pictures, develop and see my calling - to decorate people's lives.
