ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The magnificent Peony, always an inspiration in still life paintings. Not surprising it’s filled with so much symbolism in so many countries. Its seeming fragility belies its sturdiness. Its curls and swirls and delicate colours are fun challenges to tackle. I especially enjoy painting peonies with soft colours of pink and off-white. It was interesting to note that it’s the twelfth anniversary flower.
