The Textured Jharokha (Windows and doors of old Indian Monuments) is inspired from the history of these beautiful windows which were used as a private escape place for the princesses and queens who lived in the palaces built in India in old times. Famously existing in Cities like Jaipur, these jharokhas were built for women to sit behind them and have a clearer view of everything happening outside the palace’s doors while protecting their own presence. As due to the detailed window designs it was easier to have an outside view but no one could peep inside of it from the outside or from a distance. This allowed them to keep an eye on the day to day activities happening around and outside the palace while protecting their own privacy. The fantasy of this situation made me paint these beautiful pieces and put it out for the world. Since jharokhas are once again trending again in home decors throughout the world, this one of a kind hand painted piece adds up to the collection this season! ✨🫶
