ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Baptism was a commission for a private chapel. It depicts Jesus being baptised in the Jordan, the moment where he comes out of the water and God speaks ‘this is my son, my favour rests on him’ It is a moment of joy and power. Other symbols in the composition refer to a chalice, holy communion and Jesus crucifixion, through the pose. The painting style is abstract expressionism, allowing the flow of paint to emulate the water and flowing out of Jesus spirit.
