About The Artwork

The work is inspired, by a beachscape, seen where I live, in Thailand SE Asia. I have long strived to express, what I see and feel, in the plastic reality of a flat rectangular canvass. This may seem like a departure from my recent paintings as it is abstract, but actually, it links with much earlier work of mine. I abandoned abstraction, as I felt I didn't know what I was talking about. Now I feel that I do. I have always liked Miro's thoughts, "To jump the highest, you have to have your feet on the ground." I am currently working figuratively, and in abstraction, simultaneously. I like to be free from constraints, which includes those distinctions. I hope that when you see this painting, your imagination is connected to the tropical beach, and sea.

I was born in London UK, but have spent the last 19yrs, living on the tropical island of Koh Phangan. My work, is colorful, like my life has been. My art has always been a celebration of life, from art school, to the present. They are about what I see, and feel. They are about the human condition, and a fascination, with a heroic struggle. They are about love, and they are about form. I have a strong link to western art, taking a circuitous, route, from early art, through classicism, modernism to contemporary art. I reference, and draw from these influences, but also I breathe in culture, in all it’s forms, and from my rich, eventful life. I wish to communicate through my work. I hope you understand.
