In his youth, Corey was introduced to art making by his mother who provided him with paper and pencil to keep him busy; moments like these allowed him to explore a rich and flourishing imagination. Many of the things he found interesting during those early years were of the natural world, human ingenuity, games and perusing a collection of Art publications his parents owned, especially those biographies on Vincent Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and various Ukiyo-e artists such as Hiroshige Ando (Utagawa) and Hokusai Katsushika; all of whom had a huge impact on how Corey would see and make art in the years to come. Corey utilizes traditional practices such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and graphic design as well as explorations in digital media. Some current interests and passions of his include a love of modern graffiti and skateboarding culture, manga and anime, gaming, the history of art, and consumerism in the age of social media. Corey’s current works includes various traditional and nontraditional materials used in an expressive but thoughtful manner as a way to understand the human condition and how it is affected/influenced by a Modernist/Postmodernist ethos...or more simply put, Corey likes to make stuff about stuff.
