About The Artwork
This is a watercolour painting from an original photograph. The photographer captured the dancer's movement so well that I wanted to translate that onto paper with paint. I chose watercolor as I like the speed with which you have to paint to get it just right before it dries. I think it's also a good paint to fit with the aesthetic of dance as it can be made nice and light. I hope the viewer is inspired by the painting and feels the movement like I do.

I was born in Bristol in the UK and now live in Sussex. I have been drawing ballet dancers since I was a child. I took ballet classes as a child and developed a love of the dance form. From this experience, I am familiar with the movement and poses and try to get this across in my drawings and paintings. The subject matter is mainly ballet as I find this inspiring, but I also paint scenic views and love a beautiful sunset!
