About The Artwork
I haven’t shown my animal paintings as much as other works (mostly landscapes and abstracts). Somehow they feel more personal to me and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to part with them. I’ve sold a few, but not many, to friends. I never really felt this way about selling my other paintings, with the landscapes and abstract works I just kind of accepted the fact that I can’t keep them and I’d rather have them out in the world. Plus, as an artist, it doesn’t make sense to horde my own work. Some how the animals feel different, but I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I do want them out in the world. I’ve always gotten good feedback on them so that’s encouraging. I’d say they’re allegorical, although I’m not entirely certain of the story or meaning behind them.

I was born in Oxford, England and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I attended Skidmore College (1988-1992) and The Cleveland Institute of Art (1996-1998). I have always considered myself an artist and had my first gallery show in 1995.
