About The Artwork

«The Cracked World», an acrylic painting in monochrome colors, was inspired by Czesław Miłosz's poem "A Song on the End of the World." The painting depicts four hands, one on top of the other, forming a square. The hands are drawn in monochrome on a white background with a textured effect, reminiscent of aging. The painting can be interpreted in many ways, but one possible interpretation is that it represents the fragility and impermanence of the world. The cracked white background suggests an aging and decaying world, while the four hands, one on top of the other, suggest the interconnectedness of all things. The painting can also be seen as a commentary on the human condition. The hands are reaching out, but they are also trapped. They are connected and isolated, just like we are all connected and isolated in this world. In the context of Miłosz's poem, the painting can be seen as a depiction of the end of the world, not in the sense of a physical apocalypse, but in the sense of the end of an era. The world is cracked and broken, and the old order is crumbling. But even amid destruction, there is still beauty and hope. The four hands reaching out suggest that we are not alone and that we can find strength and solace in each other.
