View In My Room
Burned wooden board, prepared for exhibition at Garden Gallery, Porto. Painting belongs to the series “No Sin beyond the Earth”. I see the world being overwhelmed. In my series I am willingly going to most primitive tools like charcoal to get rid of everything that is unnecessary. Exploring nothingness via purification of fire, I am leading myself to the meditative state of going beyond the fear of empty space. Accepting it and allowing myself to be guided by creation of fire rather than to force it. This work is about courage, jumping into your fears, connecting with a power of nature, feeling a vivid power of life. I love to work with a sprays too. It reminds me about my time, our contemporary life we are experiencing now. It gives me a feeling of an evolution scale /of mindset/ from a basic primitive art with a charcoal till a neon airbrush. It is a cheerful reminder to not take things too seriously but also a very profound realization of a long journey of re-discovering the fundamental values in a modern time. Sometimes ash is the only material you can build from again.
