I paint with colour, not in colour but with colour. Colour is the material and the message in my art. Then there are objects which you will find in your under-sink cupboard that I find such beauty in that they find their way onto my canvas: detergent pouches, light bulbs and earplugs. Metal fascinates me too: mercury, silver and gold. So my art becomes the sum of the challenges of the materials. Alchemy, John Dee, influences me as much as Malevich and Vermeer; but if you wanted an "elevator pitch" for my work it would be Vermeer as imagined by Malevich. My works usually start out from a titleand often that is a title of a piece of music; this gives me the sound of the music to shape the work but also a defined scope for the images which emerge. I lived and worked in Eastern Europe for 12 years but on my return to the UK I left all my paintings behind and started anew. All the works you see on these pages are from 2014.
