Geraldine Bard Weinstoerffer was born in Geneva. After studying medicine, she completed her training by studying art therapy. Following oil painting lessons, she decided to start a career as a painter, in a self-taught manner. Painting is for her a means of expressing images which she sees, perceives and feels. She is passionate about trees, colors and light. Following various trips to Africa, she remains marked by these lonely giants, called Baobab tree. These paintings are a mixture of everyday objects and interior images. She mixes shapes, patterns and colors. She likes to stage stories, sometimes characters, and invite the viewer into her world. When Geraldine Bard Weinstoerffer lived in a small space, the idea came to her to paint on both sides of a cardboard canvas. She could create a story with two images on the same board. Seduced by the practicality of the idea, she painted a series of double-sided paintings. Using custom frames to show both sides of the painting, you can turn and flip the canvas as desired. It is possible to fix the painting on the wall and therefore to reveal only one side. But also, it is possible to hang it in front of a window and thus reveal the two sides, one inside and the other outside. The frame is made of beech wood. The attachment of the hemp cord is made on the side. The rope knot gets stuck in a side hole. Different colors are possible (natural, white tinted, black tinted ...). In the painting "The Flight", the painter was inspired by an everyday object: a piece of fabric. The main face (front) shows us a fabric, caught in the branches of a baobab tree. Round, ripe, orange fruits are suspended. On the other side of the painting (back), the fruits have bloomed and the fabric takes off. The artist wanted the hidden side (back) to be more intim and personal. It is painted in acrylic and drawn with a black marker.
