The Girl in the River is one of my most representative paintings and my most recent work , where the figure of a young woman and the intensity of the colours allows the manifestation of her innocence and sensuality, her expression is calm and delicate. Her face is so soft that she seems to be dreaming, almost revealing her nudity and her beauty as a woman. It can take up to four weeks for me to make a painting. Which shows eternal calm and the great silence that inspires each of my works. The Girl in the River is a painting about a happy, cute and Colombian girl where I am, with a special charm in her way of being and how she is part of the nature, I was very happy developing this work. When you connect whit the painting, you can find a lot of tenderness and placidity in it. I always paint on oil because these are preserved very well over time in their intensity of colour, life, brightness and texture when painting. I develop my style with the technique of pointillism because it allows me to give it a texture of magical reality so that there is more than a 2D image and make the work a living being that looks you in the eye, that your gaze speaks and one can feel it in peace and accompanied.

What I feel lies at the core of my artistry is the extraordinary power to act directly on the senses and to express ideas and feelings that would otherwise be impossible to communicate in words. Shape is manipulated to capture movement, softness and fluidity within a piece, and in doing so I leave marks and textures on the surface as visible preservations of life hewn into pieces during their creation. Some marks are stark and bold against the surface, others subtle and fragile – this is something that continually fascinates me about the artistic process; the capacity to capture and immortalise any moment in time with a gentle touch. My art is a reflection of my passion, given shape and brought to life through visually aesthetic and starkly presented bronzes and colours, allowing any viewer to connect to a vast library of profound and varied sentiment with remarkable ease. My artistic background is not limited to sculptural expression; I have also worked extensively in painting and jewellery design. I learned the secrets of sculpting with Alicia Tafur, widely recognised as one of the few Latin American Masters of Art, where I grew to understand how to infuse my work with expression and energy. My sculptural style is a mixture of the traditional and the contemporary, less insistent on a theory of ideal proportions, while at the same time being strong, passionate and rich in movement. These characteristics are exposed in my collection ‘The Passion for Movement’.
