This work is inspired by the old classical scripture story of "The Golden Calf" which over the centuries have been painted by many well known painters. There are perhaps many interpretation of this story and it's meaning, and different accounts of the story. In one account, the story goes like so: In the old times, during time of Moses, A False man name Aaron went around to everyone in the State and asked them to give him all their Gold, everything they had, and promised to build them a Deity that can make all their wishes come true and make all their suffering go away. The Israelites who had long been waiting for the return of Moses were restless and frustrated and accepted to go ahead and give all their gold to Aaron. Aaron kept 90 percent of the gold and melted the other 10 percent and built a cow of metal that was hollow and plated it with Gold. The Israelites were astonished by the large Golden Statue that made sounds (since it was hollow, it made big sound when wind blew). Many started to fall to the ground and praying to the false statue.. I found this story interesting.. Not for it's religious context of God, but for its conceptual idea of good and evil, Greed and falseness and how this story can apply to all times ...even our present time.. Perhaps that's why this simple story has inspired so many artist over so many years!

Artbyvida.com I am a painter, writer and film maker. I was born in Afghanistan and raised in America. Art is not just my passion but it is my breath, my love and the only thing that I think of every moment of the day and sometime even in sleep, the only thing that moves my heart and mind and soul. It has been so since I can remember. I was born in Kabul and my parents moved to USA when I was in 7th grade. I grew up in Town of Herndon in Virginia and went to elementary school, High School and College in Virginia and received my BA in Fine Arts and film directing from George Mason University. Growing up I was very close to my father who adored me, but he did not approve of my love for the arts and wished I would study to become a doctor. However thru sheer persistent and support of my beloved mother I was able to continue on the path. I have been painting since age four. After graduating from college my brother and I(whom I love very much and who has always supported me, understood me and my best friend) moved to New York City to pursue my dream of being an artist and film maker. During our time in NYC I finished two documentaries and one feature length film which was an Oscar contender at the Academy Awards as the first Afghan Film to enter the competition. I also attended New York University Tisch School of the arts and received an advanced script writing degree and completed a film script, a science fiction love story which was received with much praise by the NYU Dean and my Professor, but all the while continuing to paint and apprentice under different teachers and studying techniques of art and educating myself in all fields associated with arts such as writing, poetry, cinema, theater, dancing, music, photography, sculpture, conceptual art, performance art, Land art, and so much more. There after I have worked on many different art projects and art ideas and proposals and traveled extensively learning always about the world of knowledge, wisdom, and ways of the universe and people. In the last five years I have finished several large body of collection of art combining all these different elements to project my thought, in a quest to answer the larger mysteries of life such as God, Love in Modern times, life and death, and my most recent work entitled "On the edge of Eternity" which deals with the subject of meaning and purpose of life. I will always and forever follow this path.
