About the Artist

Sharon Farrah

United States

I attended St. Cloud State University with an emphasis on Art and Elementary
education. I took a lot of ceramics, drawing and painting classes.

Over the years I have exhibited at various galleries in the Central Minnesota and Minneapolis area.

Most of my artwork is mixed medium watercolor, charcoal and conte crayon. The emotive force in my work is the daily experiences that I go through both positive and not so much. I am challenged to convey experiences into work; mostly figurative with some symbolic references to the spiritual. I use watercolor and then go back and draw using things like natural sponges, cake decorator tools, old credit cards; and then finally I will use crayon, pencil, charcoal to add emphasis to that which I have began.

Art to me is a way to get beyond the dark feelings that haunt you at times, it is also a way to convey the joy you are experiencing at other times. Life is about challenge and Art is my way to speak of those challenges. You make your way through life as best as you can and while you go through it all I find it easiest to express life through Art.
