About The Artwork

This work was inspired by my visits to Shenley Lodge when I was very young. I used to feed the cows through the fence, outside in the garden. Although it was a house, instead of leading to the interior the doors in this painting lead into the endlessness of space. Through the doors one of the twin stars can be seen, the other is hidden. The first ever space walk, (made by Ed White from the Gemini IV capsule) can also be seen, which places some of the events in the painting in 1965. Shenley lodge has been used as a location for various films and TV programs including ' A Clockwork Orange' and 'The Avengers'. It is now a school.

I show regularly at Bankside Gallery which, the home of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers of which I am a member and fellow. My prints and watercolours have shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition many times. I worked in making limited edition books for many years and these are held in both public and private collections, including the National Art Library, The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Ashmolean Museum, Museum Van Het Boek, The Hague, Netherlands, British Library, St. Stephen Museum Hungary, U.C.L.A., Winchester University Library and others in the U.K., collections in Cincinnati, U.S.A., and Korea, Trinity College Dublin, Longleat House Library, Yale University Library and other collections; the work also having been shown at Tate Britain. I grew up in Hertfordshire and moved to London to study and have lived here ever since. My love of nature is reflected in my imagery.
