The Loop Print

Using themes: nostalgia, environment and painting this small body of work is a representation of the vast landscape of unprotected spaces and human interaction. The circle represents the ‘loop’; how humans typically access these spaces and sometimes with little understanding. The awe of these places coupled with the uncomfortable feeling of displacement can create an exciting fear. My narrative is about being lost in the entanglement of protected spaces. Like life, we navigate, treading carefully in unknown spaces, unsure of our path, often arriving at a place of comfort, where we began. It was inspired by vast protected spaces in nature, earth colors and lakes, trees and bright blue skies. I draw inspiration from various hikes in beautiful places such. It is created with layers of a vintage map, gesso, acrylic, collaged watercolor and gold paint.
