ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I find myself overwhelmed and entertained to observe the same locations as it changes from day to night, how light changes from season to season and how one's perspective can change it all in a second. Embrace the time you have and how things looks. This acrylic painting captures many moments of time and offers a gestural interpretation of an afternoon stroll.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, Eric Mogensen has always been an artist at heart. A fifth-generation artist, Eric quickly took to drawing and painting at the age of 4 and never stopped. He studied fine art in college then later transitioned into more of a commercial artist. For over 30 years, Eric has been studying and mastering various forms of art from traditional fine art painting and illustrations to graphic design. Eric has an inherent ability to create striking abstract images and patterns on canvas. His art transforms color, texture, and gestures into cohesive and alluring imagery. In his immensely physical approach to painting, he experiments with applying color through various controlled and improvisational methods. The result is original works that are equally stunning and spontaneous. “My approach is not about keeping control of the outcome but to influence and guide it through the process while it takes on its final form. I maintain focus on the expression and emotion through the work. My paintings are achieved by letting go of control while being reactionary as the image forms through deliberate, yet unintentional mark-making.” Eric displays and sells his art through his website and in his studio near Chicago, Illinois.
