Julie Davidow is a contemporary artist working in South Florida. Working across mediums, her practice includes minimal, geometric paintings, drawings, photography and site-specific installations exploring the intersection of the natural and built environments. Exhibitions include the National Museum of Women in the Arts; Miami Art Museum (PAMM); Museum of Art Ft Lauderdale; Frost Museum of Art; Tampa Museum of Art; Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Girls’ Club Collection, ArtSpace Raleigh; Pulse Miami/NYC; Scope Miami, Aqua, Fountain NYC; and numerous galleries nationwide. She is recipient of ARTslant’s 2009 First Prize Golden Frame Award, the Chestler Contemporary Visual Arts Award, Florida Artist Enhancement Award, Florida Artist Access Grant and has held residencies at Fountainhead Studios,The Vermont Studio Center, and Art Center South Florida. Her work has been featured in the documentary film Women Painting, Studio Visit Magazine, New American Paintings Vol. 52 and 76, Art Papers, Art Districts, The Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald. Her work included in the permanent collections of the Perez Art Museum Miami, Girl’s Club Ft Lauderdale, FL; Mosquera Collection and many private collections. Public and Corporate commissions include Hyatt Centric Las Olas, Ft. Lauderdale; EPIC Residence Hotel, Miami; Girls’ Club and Walgreens. In addition, Davidow is the coauthor of the book Miami Contemporary Artists. She received her BA in Communications from UNF Jacksonville in 1987. After a decade in small business, Davidow went on to study visual arts at NWSA in Miami from 1996-1999.
