ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Part of my collection, 'when she dreamt in colour', inspired by the vivid remnants of colour I found in my grandmother's derelict childhood home. I am interested in exploring the emotional response to place and the power of memory of place. I paint intuitively, abstracting landscapes, primarily in oil and cold wax. The painting process starts with an image, a memory or an emotion. I build layers of oil and cold wax. The process of adding layers and marks, then excavating, scraping and dissolving them, builds texture and depth, creating a history, echoing how land is laid down, compressed and eroded over time.

Éadaoin Glynn
Ireland
Éadaoin Glynn is a self-taught artist, working from her home studio in Cork, Ireland. With a M.A. in French literature and a D.B.S in Business, she worked in Paris, London and Dublin before returning to Cork. She paints contemporary abstract landscapes. She is a member of the Cork based Backwater Artists Network. Her work was selected for the cover of Murze art magazine in 2019 who called it “beautiful, emotive and bold, creating layers of colour and detail that visualise memories and trigger an emotional response with the viewer.”
