I am a self taught artist and have painted on and off all my life. I have learned something from every painting I have looked at and admired. I am inspired by artists such as Magritte, Frida Khalo, Edward Burra and Georgia O Keeffe. Other people that have been an inspiration to me include Glen Baxter, David Lynch, Thelonius Monk, Joe Strummer and David Byrne to name just a few. All of these have given me the urge to get up and create. I enjoy using bright, bold colours in my paintings which bring a vibrancy and energy to my work. A lot of the time I use black outlines within the painting, this helps create more contrast and sharpness. My paintings are often playful and have a sometimes surreal humour within them. I like to paint to have fun and aim for the finished painting to reflect this and hope that viewers and customers find the same in them.
