This painting depicts the imminent arrival of a summer thunderstorm over the vast expanse of a Midwestern prairie, set against the backdrop of a fiery sunset. In the foreground, patches of prairie grass sway gently. The sky above is a mesmerizing display of swirling colors, blending hues of orange, pink, and purple as the sun begins its descent.

Creating artwork has been a source of pleasure for me. While I am working on a new piece I tend to forget about everything else and time seems to go by quickly. Most currently I am exploring abstract painting. Just working with color, form and texture to create unexpected results is what I like to do. My background includes thirty years as a graphic designer and creative director mostly in consumer packaging and brand management. Regarding my past work: most of the imagery that makes up my work comes from nature and form. I use a traditional camera and the internet to get my ideas flowing. I like to think of my work as appropriation art. I don't always try to create a series of work but I think each piece of my work has a similar personality. I like to combine images in a collage fashion, cut and paste creativity. This combination creates images I would not think of otherwise. My technique combines emulsion transfer, which I have developed over the years, and acrylic paint onto various materials such as wood, metal and canvas.
