About The Artwork

The painting depict a serene sunset on the sea, the returning of a sailboat to the port. The vibrant colors of the sunset, fills the imagination and transports you in a happy and romantic place. The painting is made with acrylic colors, and the canvas was originally meant for a different painting. Hidden under the colors there was a charcoal sketch for another painting that never got to see the light of day.

Painting was one of my passions in life from an early age. I'm not a professional painter in the sense that I have studied painting in Art School. I am an architect and a city planner, but I also have an artistic background because of that. I've been impressed by painting since childhood, and it seems that the artistic gene runs in the family, since my uncle is also a painter and an architect. I believe that art is what you feel, turned into a real object. The way that we express ourselves is only limited by our imagination, and talent, if it exists, always find a way even if the means are not always present. I always go through moments of frustration when painting, I start with a mental image of the painting, or something that I find hard to describe, like a feeling that the painting should transmit. Somewhere along the way, there is almost always a moment of "crisis" when I feel that I cannot paint what is in my imagination. I question myself, I feel despair, I feel angry, but when I push forward, I begin to see the painting taking shape. For me, this is the normal way to paint, and I embraced this as a reality. I do not fight it, but I try to push forward passed the bottleneck. All the frustration in the creative process, is just what gives the painting value for me.
