I am self-taught, intuitive abstract artist. I paint abstract acrylics on canvas and paper, but I also design mixed media artworks, and collages. I have a passion for painting and creating art that drives me. Painting is a form of expression and communication that gives me an outlet for my inner world and brings me joy and peace. When I paint, I enter a meditative flow and time becomes fluid, and all that exists in that moment is the painting. I equally receive joy and inspiration when I experience the artworks of other artists who innovate and create their own unique art. I gravitate towards using both metallic and neon acrylic paints in my work because I feel that they give a sense of drama and vibrancy to the work. The mixed media paintings I create include objects such as beads, metallic objects, crushed glass gravel, sand, glitter, crystals, modeling paste, metal foil, and various types of paper which gives texture and a voice to my work. My paintings are an expressive and spontaneous act of creation which links me both to my inner world and to the Source to which we all belong. For me, painting and making art is a way of expressing feelings and concepts that are just below the conscious level of awareness. There are emotions and ideas which cannot be easily or fully accessed or expressed through our verbal language, and painting provides another way to explore, develop and share these unspoken messages. It is a way of reflecting on our inner landscape, bringing it to the surface and sharing it with the outer world. The act of creating and painting can provide a therapeutic and spiritual value both to the artist and to those who interact with the art. While I sometimes have a specific plan in terms of a concept or feeling that I want to express, I often just start painting and see what comes forward from there. I am often more drawn to the act of spontaneous expression without any plan or preconceived idea. As such, the outcome of the painting arises as it is being created.
