I am an artist and I am an educator. These two facets of my life are intertwined to such a degree that one could not exist without the other. The artwork I produce is a reflection on this shared experience. Teaching brings me joy and deepens my understanding of the human condition. After almost 20 years of working with children with special needs, I have honed my urgent commitment to thinking about and making art with people who move and think differently.
My artwork contemplates the world around me, the beauty and delicacy of light, and the harmony of colors. It is also about mood, process, and risk. In my paintings, I push my ideas and look for beauty in experience. Through color and line, I play with relationships in nature. In my quest for joy in my work, I have achieved balance, peace, and satisfaction. My work, while abstract, often depicts the natural world either in form or through expression. My work is deliberate, organic, and intuitive.
