'The Swallow in the Net', oil on board is a portrait with a narrative; one of introspection and mindfulness in an often ruthless and fast paced present. Painted as I confronted my mental health and in a break from the way I have depicted myself in any previous self-portrait, this one is seen from an outsider’s point of view, as I look inwards. The dynamic composition of fractured shapes surrounds the meditative figure in a tranquil pose.
