ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Out of a salt lake, maidens fetched brine and cooked out salt. This was the cultural economy in a fabled mythical land faraway for many centuries. Its fish were friendly and never on the menu. The artist calls for a reconsideration of conservation and seeks to draw attention to this site for a designation as UNESCO cultural sites. The female figure is adorned in the language of uli. Could have been my mother as a young woman. May her soul rest in peace.
