My subject matter is people, but my real passion is in colour and how the arrangement of colour can produce a different emotional experience of art. Someone once said of my work. 'I often wonder why is it that people from around the world acquire Ta's work and speak and write such beautiful things about her art. There has to be something in the painting that makes someone want to hang it on their wall and live with it for a long time. I look at Ta's work and whatever the painting, People, Lovers, Goddess or Eggs there is always something. Something that draws in the eye and you can look at it a thousand times, and you will still notice something different about it, and that's the answer'. Besides traditional brushes, I also use my trusty palette knife. I like the feel of working with it, mixing the oils getting the right texture of the paint on canvas. I want my people to have a bit of character, a little of the night about them. I want them to be unique. I also want an art deco sort of surrealism feel to it to see something different every time you look at it and look stunning hanging on a wall providing enjoyment for many years to come. COMMISSIONS: I would be delighted to create you a unique work, whatever size you need or colour palette. Thailand
Ta Byrne is a Thai artist who lives and works on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, just off the south coast of Thailand. Her Oil Paintings . are vibrant, eye-catching and packed with a sense of fun and humour. Ta takes humans as her focal point in her Figurative Painting but abstracts these figures by distorting them and using a cartoonish style to create a more humorous feel. While her work is mostly representational, she incorporates Surrealist elements in many of her paintings, making her one of the most exciting artists working in Thailand today. Ta comes from humble beginnings, living out her childhood on the rural outskirts of Bangkok as a farmer's daughter. During her teen years, she worked sewing shirts in a Bangkok sweatshop, and it was during this time that she met an old street artist who invited her to his studio. This sparked her desire to become an artist, and since then, she has gone on to produce Abstract and Cubist paintings that have received international acclaim from art connoisseurs.
