Who/ what inspired the work? The inspiration behind the work is from my very good friend I always admired (Vera) who always like turning her natural hair into different artistic styles. One day I was captivated when I saw her with such an overwhelming look that I decided to document it using this painting titled “A Naturalista" What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I hope that viewers will be overwhelmed and impressed by such a wonderful painting capturing natural hair, most especially those that always like going on with natural hair. They will be amazed, inspired, and motivated by the work because it promotes natural hair. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, and style? I choose the medium (Oil colors on canvas) because it can be easily manipulated to aesthetical values. It's very good with the impasto technique which I used in the work. To choose the subject matter is to promote and document it in visual natural hair and the beauty it has on the bearer (a Naturalista). I choose the style (Expressionism) because it gives me the freedom to explore and express my thoughts, feelings, and emotions without any obstacles. It gives me free will to create my style beyond the rules and regulations that govern art. It's a contemporary approach to painting.
