ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"The difference between you and I" series, was inspired by the understanding that human experience is universal, growth and change is part of our human existence and we need to embrace this to move forward. I draw daily, I take inspiration from nature, popular culture and my own personal life experiences. I use discarded man-made objects that I find in the environment, scraps from old books, magazines, cardboard, old notes, and letters and other discarded ephemera. They become elements of my artwork, I use inks, crayons, acrylic paint and pastel to create textured background juxtaposed to a human figure, face or a surrealist figure. My work is diverse, ranging from artists' books, large size collages, and mixed media artworks on a variety of surfaces. I work intuitively, guided by memories and imagination. I'm interested in the aesthetic of color, texture, and form and its potential to communicate universal messages of the past and present. My work is an ongoing investigation about human relationships, nature and the abstract reality of time.
