The old city of Jerusalem Print - Limited Edition of 175

This painting has been inspired by an old photo I found of the old city of Jerusalem viewed from the mount of Olives. The general feeling while painting it was to incite me and maybe others to meditate about the history of this mystical city, and all the changes it has gone through. I thought in the first place to paint it all in "flames" , thinking of the Temple that has gone in flames. Hebrew letters always make me think of flames. As I was painting it, new ideas came to mind , as it often happens in some forms of art, and it ended that only the sky and the foreground are "flaming". The city itself remains relatively realistic. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did during the process of creating it.
