About The Artwork
Three Red Poppies' is an acrylic painting on canvas. Nature, specially flowers inspire me to paint. I am a self taught artist and I like to experiment with colours and techniques. I chose a long canvas to paint the poppies. Red is my favorite color. On red petals of the flowers, I put firm strokes of lemon yellow mixed with white and a tint of skin color. Some burnt sienna I added to give the shadows. The background is abstract, painted with verticals strokes of mix of blue, red, white colors, topped with gold and copper acrylic paints. I use good quality canvas and paints to make my paintings. This painting will be rolled in thick brown paper and put in a sturdy conical box, when shipped.

Smita Srivastav was born in a small town Gaya, Bihar, India. She is an accomplished artist from Gurgaon, Haryana, India and works on a wide range of painting and sketching mediums. Though she has had no formal training in painting or art, she excels as a self taught intuitive painter painting in watercolours,acrylic,oil, softpastels on canvas and paper. A natural artist, her journey started with sketches and drawings in her exercise copies, which later converted to paper, canvas, glass and murals. Her art is not confined to any particular overriding theme or colour, but explores the ecstasy of blue sky, scudding clouds and the warm embrace of a pining lover! Her black and white illustrations in the international award winning book "Daggers of Treason", has been much appreciated for its intricate and fine detailing, and she is now working on the sequel for a Hollywood adaptation.
