Adversity, resilience and transformation; my mixed media paintings are visual narratives on the fragility of human connections. I first began creating portraits of black women during Trump’s first presidency, reacting to the misogynistic and racist actions of the admisitration. Through my paintings I communicate what I believe is the essence of humanity. The current social climate where we are acutely aware of, and often tormented by others, begs us to consider the vast and unknowable potentials of our futures. Resilience is a theme that reverberates throughout my work and life. Raised in Hartsdale, New York, I reside in Richmond, Virginia.
