About The Artwork

I am so lucky to live with a view of South Downs National Park right outside my window. It is an every changing landscape topped by a big wide sky. The cloudscape changes from moment to moment. The day I painted this we had just had a storm, the sky was still full of mauves and greys and the hills had that newly washed look that brightens colours and is so entrancing. Its a view of another world that will look well on your wall.

I love colour.I studied Textiles and embroidery at Goldsmiths in London and went on to contribute to art and textile magazines such as 'Golden Hands" I do lots of drawing and sketching and studying the work of the masters. I resonate with the improessionists and love the free use of colour and shape. I’m a painter and printmaker. I love landscape, still life and flowers. Like Klimt, I grow flowers just to paint them! I used to paint in oils, but have recently found I am reacting to the solvents and so I am moving over to acrylics and experimenting with watercolour and pastel. My style is impressionistic and I adore colour and am influenced by the Scottish Colourists. I'm always exploring colours both seen and unseen in my work, how they relate and interact. I’ve always got a sketch book and a bit of graffite tucked in a pocket in case something catches my eye. I tend to sketch in the landscape and paint in my studio. I paint from the memory of the feeling of place, colour, mood, temperature. All of that is stored in my trusty sketch book just waiting to be let out! My work is in private collections all over the world. Now I want to make it more available.
