Johanna Acosta (b.1983) living in Bogotá- Colombia; Textile designer from Los Andes University Artist since 2015. After working for several years with traditional and indigenous communities of female weavers around my country, learning different weaving techniques and different ways of fiber manipulation, I make the ¨yarn¨ my own artistic medium, and getting out of the limits of the loom and its traditional forms, I mix it with acrylic painting to create a unique language. I acknowledge that even though yarn is a carrier of deep cultural statements and it has had the responsibility over history of connecting, repairing, warming up, holding together and speaking of the ways of a specific community, It is also as a tangible line, continuous and free, moved by the energy of its holder, and a direct conduct of thoughts.
