Tree of Life Print

For this artwork, I was inspired by a beautiful and ancient oak tree that grew next to my childhood house. Various animals, such as deer and wild turkeys, would swarm around it, as if imbuing it with life more than it already had possessed. This tree is life. Looking at it, you are delighted and amazed at how many generations it has seen and witnessed. What kind of people were they? And more personally, will it outlive me as well. What would a world be like without trees? And would we be if they were not? It emits a sense of strength, beauty, tranquility and memory. The tree itself holds a special and privileged place in the Abrahamic religions. In the Bible, on its very first pages, two trees are mentioned in the Garden of Eden, which are designed to play an important role in the history of humankind: the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The fruits of the former give immortality. To me, the tree symbolizes faith, and its fruits, the gifts of faith: love, spiritual purity, and immortality. The second tree is called to test this faith. It is a reminder that each one of us has a choice in life, to choose which path to follow, the path of good, or the path of evil. This is what a believer thinks about when he sees an image of a tree on icons and other spiritual mediums.
