Inspired by Salvador Dali's still life painting titled "Nature Morte Vivante" that I was fortunate to see in St. Petersburg, FL in the summer of 2019 that demonstrated to me how dynamic the still life as a subject can be. Also inspired by figurative artists from the New Leipzig School in Leipzig, Germany because of their interest in figurative painting during a time period when much of the rest of the art world was moving in the opposite direction toward non-figurative art. Interested in the action of drawing and painting from direct observation and leveraging the unique qualities of oil paint to recreate a huge variety of textures and materials while also leaving a history of the process in less resolved areas. Subject matter chosen for a variety of color, textures and symbols arranged in a triangular composition. Large still life oil painting, with a versatile, elegant dark wood frame with hanging wire - ready for display as a single painting or as part of this series of 3 paintings.
