ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Ethiopia is considered one of the oldest areas of human occupation in the world, if not the largest, according to some scientific findings. In the same way as indigenous civilizations in Brazil, African tribal populations also use body painting as an important cultural expression usually linked to religiosity and hierarchical positions in the group. Each people uses certain types of painting depending on the occasion and the different rituals they perform. The peoples of the Omo River Valley, located in southern Ethiopia, are known as masters of body painting. These populations still manage to preserve this tradition as they keep themselves safe from contact with western civilizations. In this way, their customs are still very similar to those of their ancestors. Normally, African peoples use pigments extracted from plant saps, volcanic rocks, clays of different colors, among other natural elements, as paints. In the West, African art was used as a reference and inspiration in European modernism, especially in Cubism.

I am Franco Rodrigo, 38 years old, I'm a plastic artist who likes to invent art combinations, I paint with a spoon, dishwashing sponge, brushes, fingers on different surfaces. I consider myself an art alchemist. After long years working for big companies I decided to completely change my life investing my time learning and doing something that could make my heart really beat. Painting is my life purpose... Born and raised by a single mother, humble family, but strong values. My grandfather was an amazing musician, I used to see him playing instruments and that brought me closer to art, I have no doubts about that. For those who are interested in my art, first off I thank you for the affection and attention, but I emphasize that buying my arts you are not only helping me to evolve my art, but the lives of many other people connected with my purposes. Rest assured that you will be making a great investment, as I will not stop painting and my social projects will only increase as I become more structured. We are a reflection of our dreams and actions. Amen
