"Try It From This Angle"...if something isn't working for you in life, try it from a different angle. This is an acrylic painting on beautiful, thick linen coated paper. Linda O’Neill’s art is inspired by a deep love of nature, color, and emotion, shaped by her upbringing in Northern California and early creative exploration. With artistic roots in her family, including a grandfather who was both an artist and physician, she pursued formal art studies at Dominican University in California. After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Linda began her career in digital art at Industrial Light + Magic, a division of LucasFilm. Eventually, she returned to traditional abstract painting, a shift solidified by her move to Colorado, where she embraced physical media and a layered, intuitive process. Her work draws influence from artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell, focusing on expressing emotion through color, texture, and form. Linda’s creative process involves acrylic, mixed media, collage, and sketching tools, guided by subconscious impulses and always accompanied by music. Her distinctive style resonates with viewers and has been recognized through awards including Best of Show at exhibitions in New Jersey, Colorado and California, as well as international features in Florence Contemporary Gallery’s "50 Artists to Watch 2023," the Art Folio Annual, Emergo Art Magazine, "The Stories of Nine Artists and Creativity", Scotland and Vogue UK. Committed to connecting with audiences through universal visual language, Linda’s art offers comfort and reflection, embodying the transformative power of creativity.
