I was born and grew up in Sparta, a historic town in the south of the Peloponnese peninsula (Greece). Even as a child, I was fascinated by ruins, temples and rundown walls. The ruined city of Mystras, the "old Sparta", near the village of the same named just a few meters northwest of today's Sparta, with its castle high up on the summit of the mountain with its Byzantine architecture was for me a truly "obvious" Source of inspiration, as well as the churches there with the remains of the murals and frescoes and the steep slope with the magnificent view of the high plateau of Lakonia with the capital Sparta as a unique naturalistic scenery. Here were my very first drawings. I studied economics in Athens, Cologne and Munich, and teaches today as a commercial teacher at vocational schools in Munich. Throughout the years painting has always been the area in which I was able to live out my creativity in order to create tangible images from dreams and impressions in my atelier. Painting has always been the key to reducing physical and professional tension. From the very beginning, my enthusiasm was for the art form of realism, precisely that unmistakable, representational, and faithful reproduction of reality. During my studies in Athens, I took professional painting lessons on this style and later attended drawing courses at the Munich Art Academy. This original preference for realism was gradually supplemented by impressionistic elements. The result is a unique painting style - the "realistic impressionism" - created: no longer the lifelike reproduction of reality is in the foreground. Rather, the purpose of the generously applied color is the conveyance of a subjective impression.
