I was born in Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and currently live here. I have been painting with watercolors since my early years. I do not limit myself to one genre of painting – landscape, portrait, floral or still life, I love them all. I adore impressionistic art, I think impressionists are artists who admire light and colour, regardless the subject they paint. In this sense, I am an impressionist in my soul, but my paintings belong more to realistic art. I took part in watercolor exibitions and festivals in Ukraine and Poland. My works are in private collections in Ukraine and the UK. My childhood was spent between Kharkiv and Donetsk region, in picturesque places with variety of landscapes: steppes, forests, meadows and rivers, chalk mountains and ponds. Now looking back at that time I realize that those sceneries and, of course, my beloved parents, who chose those places for living, have formed my love to nature. I always wanted to learn how to reflect this beauty on paper. Watercolor is my passion. Unlike pencil drawing, which I also love, watercolor technique is much more challenging. It is a very intellectual technique, as it requires thinking about each stage of future work; it rarely forgives you mistakes. But I like watercolor for a variety of styles, genres and methods it is capable of. You can be very precise and photorealistic working wet on dry or try very loose and expressive, more abstract techniques – and all this is watercolor. It is a magical medium that opens its secrets for me every single time.
