ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Title: Unknown Size: 3 by 4ft Medium: Acrylic on canvas Date: 2023 Set against the backdrop of a mystical sunset, "Unknown" is a captivating artwork that delves into the profound connection between two female figures with afro hair. The painting showcases a lady by the left with graceful demeanor, balancing a plate teeming with corn. Her eyes, filled with wisdom, are fixed intently on the vibrant red sky above, hinting at an unseen story unraveled within her life. Beside her stands a younger lady, her eyes fixed not on the sky, but rather on the older figure beside her. It is evident that the younger lady is filled with curiosity, as she gazes intently at the elder, perhaps wondering about the secrets held within the kernels. Their afro hair entwines, symbolizing their shared heritage and bond despite their age difference. The artwork symbolizes the intricate relationship between generations, unveiling a narrative that encapsulates respect, wisdom, and the passing down of traditions. Every kernel of corn on the older lady's plate represents the nurturing nature of the elder, who has sown their wisdom and life experiences into the fertile soil of the younger one's mind. The vibrant red sky signifies a timeless connection, transcending the physical realm and inviting viewers to contemplate the transmission of cultural heritage through the ages. "Unknown" invites observers to reflect on the significance of relationships and the importance of cherishing our elders' wisdom. Through this artwork, I have skillfully captures the spirit of cultural continuity, reminding us of the beauty that lies in sharing knowledge, embracing differences, and fostering connections that bridge the gaps between generations.
