About The Artwork
This is the fifth painting in the series of still life that I have painted for the last three years. All has been made in oil technique on canvas. I have always been inspired by the light in Vermer's paintings and with this cycle I try to touch that space. My name is Maria Slojewska. I studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts at the faculty of painting and got BJ. Degree in 1996. My teachers and masters were prof. Ryszard Winiarski and Jan Tarasin, as well as Tadeusz Tarkowski. The latter taught me mural painting, which is what I specialized in i.e. mural and fresco, sgraffito, mosaic. What I have been doing is easel painting, fresco and mosaic. ,
